Introducing the Everyday Biomechanics Founding Cohort
The 8-week biomechanics course for personal trainers who coach everyday clients.
Learn to read how your clients move, so you know what to change, what to leave alone, and why.
You can see something isn't quite right, but you're not sure what to do about it.
- A client squats and their heels lift.
- Another split squats and their knees buckle in.
- And another presses overhead and their lower back arches.
So you make the best decision you can at the time.
- You give a technique cue.
- You regress to a simpler variation.
- Or perhaps you leave it alone and hope for the best.
And if you're honest, it's your best guess.
Of course, technique feedback and the right exercise variation matter. But what if the pattern doesn't change?
What if their back still rounds as they deadlift, and you're still not sure whether it matters?
What if something deeper is driving the pattern, something a cue or an easier variation won't change?
That's where biomechanics comes in.
Perhaps their heels lift because of their ankles. Perhaps it's how their hips rotate. A technique cue alone won't tell you which.
Perhaps their lower back arches overhead because their rib cage can't expand properly, rather than because they aren't bracing.
And it matters more than it looks. Better movement is what lets your clients load safely and keep progressing towards what they came to you for: getting stronger, losing weight, feeling fitter, and staying strong, capable and resilient into later life.
I get it. Qualifications teach biomechanics as theory. Applying it to the client in front of you is left for you to work out on the job.
So you go looking for answers online and find ten different methods, all contradicting each other. And you end up more confused than when you started.
This is the gap I aim to fill with Everyday Biomechanics.
It teaches you to read how each client moves and know what to do about the patterns you see, through simple biomechanics and practical frameworks you can use straight away.
Built for working PTs coaching everyday clients: desk workers, busy parents, people who want to get fit, get strong and feel good. Not athletes.
So you can choose exercises that suit each body, and every client can train with confidence and move better for longer.
Give them the workout they want, built around the movement they need.
The system
One system. Four steps. Every client.
Let's face it, biomechanics is complicated. And most biomechanics education never gets simple enough to use on the gym floor.
That's why simplicity sits at the heart of Everyday Biomechanics.
I built this foundation course around one question: can a trainer understand this, and use it with a client, fast?
It combines the clinical biomechanics I studied at university with 15 years of coaching everyday clients.
Here's how the system works:
Assess
What am I seeing? Watch your client move and spot any movement pattern that doesn't look quite right.
Interpret
What's really going on? Use simple biomechanical principles to understand what's driving that pattern.
Select
What do I do now? Know which exercises, cues and corrective work will best address that pattern.
Coach
Coach it. Bring the exercises you've chosen into your client's sessions to help improve that pattern.
Then reassess: did it work? And go round again.
By the end of the eight weeks…
Watch any client move and spot the patterns that matter
Stop guessing, and explain clearly to your client what you've noticed and why it matters.
Work out what's driving a pattern by looking at the whole body, not just where it shows up
Get to the real reason a squat or press isn't working, instead of repeating the same cue week after week.
Decide what to change and what to leave alone. Plenty of what looks "wrong" is simply how that client is built.
Stop "fixing" what doesn't need fixing, and spend session time where it makes a difference.
Choose the right exercises for each body, and adapt them mid-session, often with just a cue
Keep sessions flowing, without rewriting the programme every time something doesn't look right.
Weave corrective work through sessions your clients enjoy
Give them the workout they want, built around the movement they need, and keep them coming back.
Reassess, see whether it worked, and know when to refer
Show clients real progress, and coach with confidence, knowing exactly where your job ends.
And underneath it all? You stop working off your best guess. You walk into every session knowing what each client needs, why they need it, and how it'll help them move better, keep progressing, and keep doing what matters to them.
Clients feel the difference. They stay longer, they tell their friends, and you become the trainer you got into this industry to be.
The eight weeks
What we cover, week by week
Weeks 1 to 3 give you the biomechanics. Weeks 4 to 8 turn it into simple frameworks you can use with any client.
Before we startPrimer (Tuesday 5th January)
An overview of the whole system from start to finish, and the whole-body thinking behind it: why the joint where a problem shows up is often not where it starts. Plus your scope as a trainer, and where your job ends.
Week 1Breathing and rib cage mechanics
How the rib cage moves, and why its position matters so much for the shoulders above and the pelvis below. Then how to spot a client who isn't breathing efficiently, and coach a full exhale that sets a better position for training, including when to brace under load.
Week 2Lower body mechanics
The pelvis, hips, knees and ankles in the main lower-body patterns: the squat, split squat and hinge. What a good pattern looks like for that client, the common compensations, and how to tell what needs changing from what's simply how they're built.
Week 3Upper body mechanics
The shoulder blade, rib cage, upper back and neck in the main upper-body patterns: pressing, pulling and rotation. What a good pattern looks like for that client, the common compensations, and how to tell what needs changing from what's simply how they're built.
Week 4Assess
What am I seeing? A short screen for new clients, and quick targeted tests for the clients you already train. You'll turn what you see into a written hunch, test it, and record a baseline to measure against later.
Week 5Interpret
What's really going on? Working back from the pattern, through position, to what's driving it. You'll learn to join several findings into one picture, then choose what to act on first and what to leave alone.
Week 6Select
What do I do now? Making the smallest change that works, starting with a cue. Five simple dials to adapt any exercise, and exercise ladders for the eight main patterns, so you always know the next step up or down.
Week 7Coach
Coach it. Short primers to prepare the body, corrective work woven through the main session, and the breath coached throughout. Plus home practice your clients will actually do: a few minutes, built into their day.
Week 8Reassess
Did it work? Retesting against the baseline you recorded in week 4, reading progress session by session, and knowing what to do when nothing has changed. Then you go round the loop again.
Weeks 1 to 3 build your eye. You'll start seeing your clients differently straight away, watching and recording before you change anything.
From week 4, you take one real client through the whole system, with my feedback every week. By week 8, that becomes your case study: every decision you made, why you made it, and what changed. It's your proof that you can do this, and a worked example you'll come back to with every new client.
Eight trainers at most, so you get real time with me, not a lecture with a hundred others.
Who's teaching it
I'm Luke Bremner. I'm clinically trained: I graduated with a first-class degree in podiatry, where my focus was biomechanics, then spent a year in the NHS working on gait, posture and movement alongside other podiatrists and physiotherapists.
The clinical side of podiatry wasn't for me, but the biomechanics side was. So I took what I'd learned into the gym, built on it, and spent the next 15 years running Luke Bremner Fitness in Edinburgh, coaching everyday clients and growing to multiple locations and a team of nine coaches. I sold the business in February 2026.
Clients often commented on the standard of coaching across the team, and movement was at the heart of it. It underpinned their progress, whether that was getting stronger, losing weight or simply training for years to come.
I also tutor and assess Level 2 and Level 3 personal training qualifications, so I see what trainers are taught, and what they're left to work out alone.
Everyday Biomechanics is everything I've learned, simplified: a university grounding in biomechanics, tested on real clients for 15 years. I'll always tell you where the evidence is strong and where it's my experience talking. You take what works for your clients.

Frequently asked questions
Who is this for?
It's built for working personal trainers coaching everyday clients. Newly qualified trainers, other movement professionals and coaches who work with athletes are welcome too. The examples are everyday clients, but the thinking works for anyone.
I own a gym. Can I send my coaches?
Yes. It's built to be simple enough to send your coaches on. Places are booked per coach, at £495 each.
What if I can't make Tuesday mornings?
Every call is recorded, and your homework feedback carries on regardless, so even if you can't join live, you won't miss out. That said, joining live is best, because that's where the practical work and the questions happen.
How much time will it take?
Around three to four hours a week: a short video and slides before each call, the 90-minute live call, and real-client homework.
What happens after I book?
You'll get a payment confirmation straight away, then a welcome email from me within 24 hours with the dates and calendar invites. The primer arrives on Tuesday 5th January, a week before we start.
Does it cover pain and injury?
Treating pain and injury is a clinician's job, so no. You will learn how to train clients with the odd niggle, and when to refer.
Will I have an exercise library?
Yes, a short one. Other courses give you hundreds of exercises to choose from. This one focuses on the exercises that really matter and, more importantly, how to think about choosing them.
Do I get a certificate or CPD points?
You'll get a certificate of completion. As this is the founding cohort, the course isn't CPD-accredited yet. Accreditation is planned, and founding members will be first to hear, with a founding-member rate to gain it.
Is it worth £495?
If it helps you keep one client a few months longer, it's paid for itself. And if it isn't for you, the week 2 refund means you won't be out of pocket.
Can I pay in instalments?
Not for the founding cohort. It's £495, paid in full.
Are there refunds?
Yes. If fewer than three trainers join, the cohort won't run and you'll get your money back in full. And if you start and realise it isn't for you, tell me by the end of week 2 and I'll refund you in full, no questions asked.
Anything I haven't covered? Email me and I'll get back to you.

The honest bit
This is the founding cohort, so there are no testimonials yet. You'll be the first.
That's why it's £495 instead of £995. In return, I ask for honest feedback every week and permission to share your case study, anonymised. A testimonial only if you're happy to give one.
You'll rate your confidence at the start and again in week 8, so we'll both know whether it worked.
Ready to join?
By the end of the eight weeks, you'll choose every exercise for a reason, coach with real confidence, and help every client move better.
